Just when it seemed everyone was starting to get tired of superhero movies, this new flick was released. Personally, I like most Marvel movies and I am totally plugged into the MCU. This one is no exception. The cast plays with our emotions as the MCU seems to be steering a bit away from action and more towards acting. When Captain America and Iron Man go head-to-head, we feel the need to choose a side. I went into the movie supporting one side of the conflict, but during the movie I was ripped away from my side and moved onto the other side of the conflict. I find it fascinating that Marvel was able to play with my character connections so well.
My favorite thing about this film would have to be the new-coming characters. Both Black Panther and Spider-Man are awesome and I am pretty excited for their movies. I'll admit that I was very skeptical of Spider-Man from the trailers. He seemed super immature and quite frankly annoying. In the film, he turned out to be a great new addition though! Of course, the old personalities are back and continue to make the basis of the newer films in the MCU. I can't complain about that really because they all seem so well fit into their character personalities.
My one complaint for the film is that it is another safe film from the MCU. It really feels like a sequel to Winter Soldier and I found that movie to be the most bore-some of the franchise. Civil War is much more exciting but still feels drawn out and the story's resolution made the movie feel a bit less impactful than I wished it to be. I guess you will have to judge that for yourself though!
The Bottom Line: This is a good MCU flick that steers a bit away from full-on action and looks more at emotional conflict.
