I didn't get around to watching any films last night because I was too busy finally starting to watch Stranger Things. I've behind with TV and finished the final season of Parks and Recreation last night, so I needed to find something else to watch. I watched the first episode of Stranger Things and instantly moved onto the second episode because I was hooked. The tone of the show is a mix of 80s horror, drama, and coming-of-age. Normally I'm not a big horror fan, but it's hard to dislike the 80s-style horror genre. In my opinion, these were when the best horror films were made ranging from A Nightmare on Elm Street to The Shining. Stranger Things makes a lot of references back to 80s horror films, which is its biggest success. The cast is reminiscent of The Goonies, rounded with young kids solving a mysterious happening. There are a few side stories to keep the audience engaged and wondering. There are also a few theories that fans can come up with themselves. For example, I have a theory about Hopper's daughter but I will have to wait and find out if it is confirmed. All of the aspects make for a really enjoyable series that is both serious and fun at the same time.
