I bet no one saw this one coming. It appears to be a storyline replica of Taken, but this time starring Halle Berry. That's cool and all, but this story has been reiterated so many times. Additionally, this film does not look like it adds a lot to the genre. Even the acting seems overly cheesy. Still, it could be a fun time if you're into dramatic thrillers.
This film looks visually stunning because of its AI interactions. Yet, the acting in this trailer alone seems very Nickelodeon-esque. Every line in the trailer is robotic and forced through the vocal chords of the actors. I wouldn't exactly call it subtle acting. Maybe the visual effects will make up for the forced script, but the tone seems a bit too immature for my tastes.
Damien Chazelle captured the world's attention with Whiplash, and La La Land looks like the perfect follow-up for the director. Rather than returning to another tense story, La La Land seems more soothing and calm. Still, it brings Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone to the big screen with beautiful imagery and a Broadway scope. This love story will surely capture our hearts like Whiplash captured our souls. The music sounds extremely well-written too, so that's just another thing to look forward to.
