This trailer was dark and gritty, creating a tone for the Star Trek reboot. It gave us a detailed glimpse of the amazing franchise that was coming our way. We got to see each character and some of their weaknesses. The music that accompanied it was also comparable to the music of the original series. The music of the original series became iconic and representative of the future of sci fi. The music of the trailer exemplifies a darker tone, but a familiar one as well.
The trailer for the second installment of the reboot series starts off with blurred and inverted vision as we shuffle through the halls of the enterprise. Then, we get lost in the darkness as we are introduced to Benedict Cumberbatch's character. While a lot of people eventually called out the imminent twist in the film, we were left in the dark at the very beginning. Of course, it seemed clear that Cumberbatch was playing a villain but we were not sure who.
Alright, here's the most controversial trailer of the franchise. Meant to hype up an audience, a Beastie Boys song is used in the first trailer for the new film. Personally, I was a fan from the first time I watched this trailer. Okay so it may not look like the depth that Star Trek was going for, but it looks like a hell-of-a fun movie with Justin Lin at the helm. With a new director, the film looks like it is steering away from the Abrams formula and towards a newer genre. However, early buzz says that the film fits perfectly into the Star Trek franchise. I cannot wait to see it and I may even wear my Spock outfit at a screening, which I obtained three years ago for Halloween!
